Q: Does PASS training meet the new EPA requirements for Class A/B UST Operator training?
A: Yes. The EPA has compiled a set of minimum guidelines that each state must follow when developing training requirements. We also work closely with state governments to ensure that our program meets or exceeds their standards.
Q: What about states that haven’t published standards yet?
A: We have developed our training program to closely follow the requirements of the federal EPA. Our training is available in every state. Some states evaluate training programs and provide formal approval of the course material. Our Class A/B operator training is an acceptable training method in these states. In a few states additional training/testing may be required . Please contact us to see if we are available in your state.
Q: Where will Class A/B UST training be held?
A: Our Class A/B UST Training program is computer-based and can be administered on-site. This approach enables us to offer training to anyone, anytime, anywhere.
Q: How long will the training take?
A: We anticipate that the testing should take no longer than 4 hours to complete.
Q: Does the entire training have to be completed in one session?
A: No. Our platform allows individuals to work and complete training on a schedule that is most convenient to them. If a trainee quits the training, our system saves their status allowing them to return and finish.
Q: Is a software license required for each computer that runs the training?
A: No, we require no license! Each site has the ability to train as many individuals as desired/required. However a small fee per trainee will be assessed before training begins.
Q: How much does your solution cost?
A: We are committed to providing an affordable, quality service to our customers. The cost is $179.99 per trainee for both the Class A and Class B Operator training designations. This combined A/B course saves money and provides invaluable cross training for employees.
Q: When am I required to have my employees trained?
A: The EPA’s target for full implementation of the operator training program is August 8, 2012. By that time, a certified Class A/B UST operator does not have to be on site at all times like the Class C but they do need to be able to respond to emergency calls and access the site within hours. Some states have moved their deadline forward! Contact us if you are interested in knowing what your state is doing.
Q: Some of my employees have limited computer skills or speak little or no English. Does your program accommodate that?
A: Our program is designed with a very simple, graphically driven interface which incorporates both audio/video and text. This allows for a very simple, straightforward user experience. We are also considering translating the curriculum into multiple languages. Please contact us if you need training in additional languages.
Q: Is your UST Class A/B training state-specific?
A: For states that have adopted requirements that are in addition to the federal guidelines we have created state specific modules. We are currently proposing to regulators that multi-state operators take the A/B federal exam one time and add the required state specific modules. Approval for this approach is currently pending in several states.
Q: Are certifications valid for multiple sites?
A: This varies from state to state depending on what their reciprocity rules are. Contact us to see what your state is doing.
Q: Will you be offering separate courses for the A and B operator in the future?
A: It is not likely that separate courses will be offered. The general consensus among most states is to combine the training for both certifications.
Q: With only one course for both classes of operators, will there only be one test for both operator certifications?
A: By combining Class A and Class B Operator training and utilizing a single test, valuable employee cross-training is achieved. You must achieve a score of 80% or higher to pass.
Q: If I do not pass the exam is there a charge to retake it and do I have to retake the training course?
A: There is an additional fee to retake the exam. Once you have initially purchased a training course you will be able to go back and review anytime you like without any extra fees and access all sections at your convenience.
Q: Who can I contact if I have problems?
A: You can contact us or your PASS Director if you ever need assistance. In addition a technical support phone line is available free of charge.
